Ready for Anything is an award winning programme which builds resilience skills in children. It is currently delivered in a number of schools across Northern Ireland. Classes are age appropriate and non intrusive. Each week we will cover key resilience building topics - who I am and what is important to me, the roles I play and the important people in my life, emotional recognition and control, confidence, including celebrating talents and successes, competence, self-esteem, hopes and dreams and positive self-talk, friendship and role models, making safe choices and integrity, contribution including self-efficacy, kindness, gratitude and children’s rights. Activities are designed to relax the children, allow them to have fun, encourage sharing of experiences and feelings, provide them with tools and strategies to cope with life experiences, setbacks and challenges and promote collaboration and optimism. We use participatory learning techniques including demonstration, energizers, songs, games, brainstorming, discussion, problem solving, role-play, arts and crafts. The key topics are explored in a range of different ways so that classes are new and fresh each term.
